Recent intermittent shutting down when opening: Excel, Word Help, Google search. Defragged, virus checked.

Possibly overheating? Have you checked the temp / fans / etc?

Any error messages prior to close down?

Not overheating, no error messages.

I have the same prob but mine restarts
not much diffrent though after running the lexmark solution center my pc gets very unstable. then if i run another program it restarts.

I have no solution for this so when I install a new cartridge for my printer I shut down and restart pc for it not to be unstable.

also what memory do you have .?

if it is sdram (dimm) make sure you have the right voltage ones.

and the same goes for ddr dram.

hope this helps?

regards stuntmaster.
