THE THING IS I HAVE MY PCTEL HSP56 MICROMODEM INSTALLED AND RUNNING FINE ON XP PRO, HOWEVER WHEN I RUN ME IT CANT EVEN DETECT THE MODEM...I HAVE DOWNLOADED THE DRIVER FROM THE MAKER TO SUIT ME AND I STILL HAVE NO LUCK INSTALLING MY MODEM OR EVEN GETTING WINDOWS ME TO DETECT IT. I REALLY NEED TO GET ME ONLINE AS I WANT TO DOWNLOAD UPDATES FOR ME FROM MICROSOFT, PLEASE CAN ANYONE HELP WITH THIS ! CHEERS PPL.

First check in Device manager and see if there is some part of the modem, or communicattion device loaded, with a yellow problem exclamation on it. If there is, remove that item.

Reboot the system, and the communication device should be redetected - point it to the downloaded driver, and all should now install.

let us know if anything is not like the above.
