Windows Live Messenger Problems.

I've recently purchased a new Acer Aspire 5920 laptop and I am having trouble installing Windows Live Messenger. It came pre-installed with Windows Vista Home, has a 250GB harddrive and 2GB DDR2 Ram. I get the following message when the installer tries to run:

"Sorry we couldn't install these programs."

Not installed: Messenger
Not installed: Sign-in Assistant

Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards,

it might need the full administrator account to install.

I presume i have the full administrator account. I'm the only person who has used the laptop! How would i check if i do or do not have full administrator benefits?

I tried to uninstall everything related to WLM on my computer, and tried to install it again, but still it's failing.

I am not a vista user as I find it almost impossible to do things with it unlike xp. I just recently built a pc for a friend who wanted vista home premium on it. Having set that up with just her name as the only user I could not install some progs which asked for full administrator rights. I right clicked on it and clicked on use admin account but it would still not load. Perhaps one of our vista gurus could tell you how to do it.

Hmm, i see. I'll post in the Windows Vista area. Thanks for your help.

That didn't work, i had to disable Windows Firewall for it to install, then i re-enabled once installed and all is fine. Thanks for the help.
