Windows Live Messenger aggro

  briandy 11:34 25 Feb 2009

I have a brand new Dell pc running Vista Home Premium. Everytime the machine is booted the Windows Live Messenger login box appears. I have tried deleting msnmsgr from the start up list using Advanced Uninstaller but it still appears again in start up when I reboot.

It does not appear in the programs list in the control panel although it may be part of Windows Live essentials - but I don't know for sure.

It does no harm but I don't need it and it is becoming very annoying.

PS - I do not like Vista!

Click Start - Search - All Files and folders.

Search for msmsgs.exe - when found

(it should be in the C:\Program Files\Messenger folder), rename it to msmsgsORG.exe.

Done. Gone. Never to return...

Thanks for your replies but when I go to Start and search for msmsgs.exe it does not find anything; also I do not have a C:\Program Files\Messenger folder.

Which screen contains the Tools and Options that I need to look at?

Thanks again.

Look in messenger and adjust your options.
