Is it making a comeback? Just had an update for Win. Essential 2012 and it's back in the all apps page Win 8.1.

I thought that it had been replaces by Skype.

The update came as a pop-up, not via windows update. I don't use skype and ignored that particular update so it installed WLM instead? Happened on the laptop too.

Looks like a glitch in the programming to me. Although all my contacts show, everyone is 'off line'. Apparently I can send and email through it. Have now uninstalled. Pity as I liked messenger but can't get to grips with Skype. If we had family or friends abroad then I might have made the effort but as we haven't then won't bother.

Thanks for all the input, much appreciated as always.
