Am running win live mail in vista. was working fine, but all of a sudden keeps prompting me for username & password when retreiving emails from the server? someone suggested there might be a conflict with my anti-virus and that an update might have affected the settings? any advice how i can prevent this from happening?? thks Mike

Try deleting the "Account" in Live Mail's settings and then set it up again from scratch. You won't lose existing messages by doing so.

As Windows Live Mail is part of Windows Live Essentials go to Programs & Features via Control panel and select uninstall/ change. Follow instructions and select repair. Note that Windows Live Mail can also be used as a Web Mail system via Windows Live Messenger.
Worth downloading all to do with Windows Live Essentials if you want something like Outlook Express and a bit more. Either in or out seems to be the best choice.

If you also use another e-mail provider make sure you have Windows Live mail set as the default.
You may have to sign in once more but that may fix it.
I had the same problem a fortnight ago as I have 2 Windows live mail accounts.
And for some reason I now get both when I just open the one account.
It actually is quite useful now just opening the one and having both show.
