windows installer prob on a laptop.

Hi Folks, Happy New Year.
I got a hp laptop with vista home premium from santa and was installing software on it. One of my sony bits needed a download to complete, think it was sql server, The installation failed as it said the software was not compatible with the vista os. Now everytime I start up the laptop it starts windows installer routine to install the download.
I'm Jiggered if I can find how to stop/delete/cancel this install process. Any help would be appreciated.

go to run and type in msconfig, under startup there may be an entry for your installer, or you could use ccleaner, under tools and deselc=ect it under startup

Run system restore to a time prior to the update.

If that doesn't work look for the installer in Defender > Tools > Software Explorer > Start Up Programs then highlight it and disable or remove it.
