Go to "Start->Run" and type in "sfc /scannow" (without the quotations and NOTE the space is required.)

You may need your WinXP installation disk.

Just recieved via e-mail from gyahwi:

Hello Instructions followed but, the response is sfc/scannow can not be found thus the problem is not solved

any error messages other than sfc /scannow not found?

  mattyc_92 18:46 23 Jul 2005

Oh.... I know why... The run command is as follows (copy and paste to make sure you get it right):

sfc /scannow

It should now work. You just forgot the space before "/"

Via E-mail again:

No error message. When Help and support is clicked the pointer arrow changes to timer and back to arrow without openning the program.

Have you tried the run command again with the space this time? (as above?)

Command run with referred space and the scanned operation performed which took some minutes but, did not returned with no message; waited for some mins and restart the pc and clicked on help and support with no response.
