Windows folder mysteries

When I got to C and then Windows folder I find:
Volume: 7 Gigs with 14,000 files
About 100 0f the files are named #uninstall(wonder what those are!).
My hard drive is 80 G.
Windows XP SP3
Is this usual or am I clogged with unnecessary stuff that can/should be removed?
Thanks

They are normal but if you are short on space
You can safely delete all those #uninstall folders. They are backup uninstall programs

These are if you want to uninstall windows updates. The total space they occupy is small, and if I were you I would leave them alone. Others may say ok to remove - up to you!

Thanks for the advice and the link which clarified things well.
Since space is not an issue, I shall leave well alone.
Thanks to everybody

Don't know how you come to have all them, I only have 179 as uninstall Win Updates just under 1 gig
