I am getting Windows Firewall message

Windows firewall Settings cannot be displayed because the association service is not running. Do you want to start the Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service

When I answer yes.

It says it cannot

This has happened sine upgrading to Norton 07. It was not their with Norton 06. Norton 07 is working OK. AOL says my firewall is not detected.
Should I worry?

If you are running Norton firewall, it will switch windows firewall off by default.

they should not be used together, as I understand it.

Yes Fingees, you are correct running two firewalls can be a problem!

My Guess is that Norton switched off Windows Firewall during install as Norton Internet Security Suite 2007 it protecting your computer.

While NIS07 is running the security policy will be put into place to stop you from activating the Windows firewall and required services to run it.

AOL most probably do not support detection for your Personal Firewall, but did for the Generic firewall found in Windows XP SP2.

I don't think this is something you should worry about, if Norton is stating that its firewall is on then your good to go!

I think you have put my mind at rest

AOL did detect Norton 2006. It doesn't detect anything at the moment
