Windows Explorer responding slowly

  Distressed 14:21 13 Oct 2003

I am running win 98 on a P4 2.8ghz with 256mb ram

When I try to navigate to folders in Windows explorer, when I have selected folder in the left hand pane it takes a long time to open in the right hand pane.

Any thoughts on why and how to resolve it?

My only suggestion is to defrag the hard drive and see if this helps

May be worth running systems file checker from the run command. = type in run sfc have win 98 cd handy.
