Windows Explorer - Left Hand Default Pane

  johndrew 11:26 16 Nov 2005

I am very new to the PC world, trying to find my way around and running XP.

During this learning process I somehow lost the Windows Explorer Default Pane to the Left of the window (it used to show System Tasks/Other Places/Details in separate panels).

I can still get Search and Folders by pressing the buttons in the tool bar but when both are de-selected I only have a large window with no sign of the original panel.

Please can someone tell me if it is possible to recover this information as I found it very helpful. If so can you also tell me how to do it in simple terms.

Many thanks.

Open any Explorer window, select Tools from the top of the window, select Folder Options. Under the first heading (Tasks) make sure "Show Common Tasks In Folders" is selected, if not left click it. Click OK.

Many thanks, Skyver. It`s so easy when you know how (sigh).
