Windows does not recognise Ipod

  Lee-262377 09:42 08 Nov 2006

Hi, i have bought an unused 20GB clickwheel ipod, have the software for itunes and the docking usb2.0 cable. My system is xp pro service pack 2 and as far as I understand my system exceeds the requirements for the device.
However, no matter which usb port I connect it to i get the USB device not recognised message with a click here to resolve problem. I have tried every single one of the 5 R's solution on the apple website (at least 10 times!!) without success.
Because the device was actually bought over a year ago there appears to be nothing apple can (or are prepared to) do to help resolve this problem.
I went on the forums where this seems to be a common (unsolved) problem.
Can anyone help????
