When this was released I downloaded it and installed it over the top of MS Antispyware and ive been trying too update it but I have an error message something like:

Windows Defender was unable too update OX8024400a

What do you all suggest ??

Try temporarily disabling your av's real time scanning (not your firewall) while updating. It worked for me.

How do you know whether it is updating? I have had only two updates that I am aware of and both came through Windoows Automatic Updater.

I got something different now: WD found no new fefintions so it must be the server could it be ??

But in the update section of the program it says "Windows Defender defintions havent been updated in 23 days"

Hi rawprawn, I'm not sure, but the other day, when I went to shut the pc down, there was a small shield on the shutdown box, which informed me that updates would be installed when I shut down.

'course I'm only assuming it is something to do with defender, as I hadn't noticed it before.

Where windows Defender is on my taskbar theres a yellow warning symbol! :-S!!

That is Windows Automatic Updater. Which shows it is updating Windows Defender. It will tell you whether it is a normal Windows Update or Widows Defender. If you click on that "little Shield" it will tell you.

If you go into Microsoft Windows Updates/Review Updates you will see the updates that Windows Defender has had. My last two were 15th and 17th February.
