windows 98 not enough memory

old system running win 98. Got 5gig hard drive space, trying to reinstall MS works. error message says not enough disk space to run set up.
Help please

That message does what it says on the tin: it means that you don't have enough hard drive space. Time to do some clearing out of old stuff to free up some space - or treat yourself to a new hard drive.

Hi yesso,

That has got to be wrong. If your disc was Mb's, yes, but not Gb's.

When you loaded Win 98 did you enable large disc support during the early stages of the setup? If not this may be affecting it. In My Computer right click on the C: drive, left click on Properties and see what capacity it reports.

thanks kate but got 5 GIG space only need 640mb to install program but get error message. besides computer belongs to OAP who doesn't need and cant afford new hd

hi Griffon not my computer Def got 5GIG free space. OAP used MS works for years with no probs but got error mess and deleted it from add remove progs. trying to reinstall from original back up cd
