Windows 7 32bit or 64bit

I am building a new computer with an Intel i5 processor. I intend to install Windows 7, prefferably the 64bit version, which I understand will run faster with the i5, but I don't know if there are any issues as regards running 32bit programs with this configuration. Any advice greatly appreciated since I am a novice in the computing world.

I have windows 7 64bit, many of my old programmes don't work with 64bit, not sure if it's windows 7 it's self wether I would have the same problem with a 32bit.

I had the 32 bit on my other windows computer and the 64 bit on this one.
I preferred the 32bit one which I thought was quicker to start and better to use.
But of course it could just be that it is different computers that is the difference and not W/7.
You have to download the 32 and 64 bit versions of Java for it to work properly and I am sure it is the same with the Flash Player.

If you want 4 Gig RAM or more in the future, 64 is needed. I have used it for more than a year. 32 bit programmes work in 32 bit and are stored in C; Programme files(x86). In other words programmes designed for 64 bit work in that mode and 32 designed ones in that, even on a 64bit PC.

I opted for 32bit and I've not had any problems with any of my legacy programs.

I have, on my forum crawls, noticed peps with 64bit posting problems that I haven't got.

If you're happy to lose out on a bit of RAM usage then I would recommend 32bit if you have old programs.
