Windows 2000/Service Pack 4

  fernlea 16:17 09 Nov 2008

I run Windows 2000 and need Service Pack 4 to install various programmes that I use. When Service pack 4 is downloaded from Microsoft and installed it results in my being unable to log on to my service provider (NTL Broadband).

Uninstalling Service Pack 4 results in being able to log on again. I have installed Service Packs 1, 2 & 3 which cause no problems.

Have you any suggestions as to the problem and steps to overcome it? any help will be apreciated.

More information needed. How do you connect to NTL, wired, wireless, what router (if you use one), what broadband method (ADSL, cable), have you checked you have the latest drivers for you network hardware, are you using a software firewall....
