I have just installed Windows 2000 professional onto one of my computers and want to add it to the network of my other Windows XP computers. I have tried to set up a network to access the internet but have had no luck How can I access the broadband on the Win 2000 computer via the network?

I'm assuming you connect via an XP machine and use Internet Connection Sharing (ICS), is that correct?

What have you tried so far to correct the problem?

Yes I am connecting to the XP computer. I have followed the networking wizard on the 2000 computer and still have had no luck. It says that the computer has been sucessfully connected to the Network but I still cant access the internet.

Have you enabled the XP machine to share it's internet connection?

Yes I have

Have you setup the internet connection to connect via your LAN?

Yes

Have you a Firewall on either computer?

If so, disable it and see if that allows a connection.

I do not have a firewall software on any computer in my house.

If you go to Start; Accessories; Command Prompt; and type the following command;

ping 127.0.0.1

What result do you get?

I have ran one of these 'ping' things before on another computer and this one looks successful. It says:

Packets: Sent=4, Recived=4, Loss=0%
