Service Pack 3 has just appeared on my 'Updates ready for your computer',

Is it
(a) really necessary to install it and

(b) if I do install it do I need to disable my Kaspersky Internet Security or do anything else before doing so.

See other threads. If you have MCE suggest you follow other advice given recently . I would download it to desktop but not install. then disconnect from internet, temp disable Kasperdky , install SP3 , reactivate Kaspersky then reconnect to net.

And I wouldn't bother with it!
In fact I haven't.

If at all in any doubt, don't bother to install it. The world will not end !

I have got it on all 4 of the machines in my house without any problem, in fact I have just recently done a clean install on one of them with an installation disc that I slipstreamed SP3 into using nlite which worked without a hitch.

Installed 2 weeks ago, no problems. Suggest disable AV just in case.

I had no problems with installing service pack 3 after disabling both Zone Alarm & Kaspersky.

But I would like to point out that it put 700 MB onto my computor which if you need the space is a lot for no difference in performance from previous.

I`m probably up to about a dozen without any major problems. Couple of failures at first attempt resolved by doing them again. I would disable Anti-virus and firewalls too.

No problem with my 3 ;-)

How do you get it to download to desktop?

Does it offer a save/open download then?
