Based on the high recommendation in the magazine for the Kodak Easyshare DX 6440 camera, my daughter, with a more limited budget, bought a DX 4530 without a docking device. Since installing the Easyshare software she finds that her computer hangs for 8 minutes in the 'Windows is shutting down' mode during which time the only option is to pull out the power cable. Her OS is Win98SE and a Google search on the web shows that she is not the only one experiencing the problem. The messages indicate that installation of the Microsoft Windows shutdown patch doesn't help and that the U.S. Kodak helpline has been unable to solve the problem although there were hints that they were well aware of many complaints. One suggestion which is said to work is to shutdown to the MS-DOS prompt and then switch off. At least this would avoid Scandisk at reboot. Have forum members experienced the same problem and are there any solutions, possibly even recommended alternatives to Easyshare? Also perhaps Kodak Easyshare cameras shouldn't be regarded as 'Best Buys' for Win98SE systems!
