win98 se driver for cdrw not displaying E DRIVE

I AM USING INTEL DOT STATION WITH WIN 98SE AND MEMOREX 32X52X52X EXTERNAL CDRW.BUT CAN ABLE TO SAVE OR PLAY ANY CDS.NOT ABLE TO FIND E:
PLEASE HELP

I'm not absolute sure what you are saying, but if.....

You are using an external CDRW drive which is connected by a USB cable.
You are using Win98

Have you loaded the drivers for this USB device, because 98 will not recognise it until you have?

Best tos ave the data to the hard disk and then burn to cd afterwards.

i mean intel dot station pc(mac like built).
i have installed several 98 se usb drivers.still i couldnt get the letter E:/ In my computer.
its telling driver may have errors or drivers not installed
please help

I'm trying to remember a long way back when I was using 98 and added a proprietory USB HD.

I think the eventual trick was to install the HD's drivers first with the USB HD disconnected.

Then and only then, with the external disk switched on, poke the USB lead into its port. Windows should recognise it and say "installing new hardware.

You may be having trouble by now with a confusion of drivers part loaded. It would certainly be worth looking first in Device Manager for any yellow triangles in the USB section.
