Win98 Blue Screen of Death

  The Griffman 09:28 17 Dec 2003

I have been experiencing some problems with Windows 98 upon start-up. After installing such things as sound card drivers and Winamp. The system seems to hang up and give me a blue screen at start-up. Any ideas what's causing this error?

Have a look for conflicts in Device Manager.

From W98 help files.

To enable Diagnostic Srartup:

Start, Run, type Msconfig, OK.

General tab, Create Backup.

Click Diagnostic Startup, OK.

'Restart computer', OK.

Startup menu, Step-by-step confirmation.

Autoexec.bat and Config.sys, press ESC to by-pass.

Enter to load all other items.

Sorry, just realised you can't do any of this if it won't start!
