Win2k or WinME?

  roversfan 17:06 01 Apr 2003

I am looking to upgrade my Os and am not sure which one to get.

I intend to dual boot with Win98SE which I use at the moment.

Any advantages or disadvantages with these two OS's? Which would you suggest? (price is irrelevant)

Please no more about WinXP. I have read enough and I am not interested yet.

I would not see much point in dual booting Win98-SE and Win-Me. The two systems are quite similar.

Don't go there!
I upgraded from 98se to ME and nothing ever worked again.
It freezes up constantly and is hugely unreliable

Thanx for that. I use Win2k at work and I'm happy with it but don't ask it to do too much there.

I bought a base unit with WinME preinstalled. I got so frustrated with it that I went back to Win98 after about a day. Didn't really give it a chance though.

I am told Win2k is the better OS but, hey, thought I'd ask the experts! ;)

Glad to know it wasn't just me!

Thanx for your replies.

Confirmed what I thought.

Win2k it is.

To be honest I'd probably just stick with 98SE unless I absolutely had to go higher...

I could be wrong, but isn't the difference that W2K is WinNT made slightly more user friendly, while WinME is Win98 with more bells and whistles?
