win xp + vista dual boot ??

is it possible to run xp and vista on the same pc.(dual boot)
have just bought a pc and has got 8gb of ram but xp only sees 4gb so if i load vista will this do the trick of giving me 8gb ram and if i boot up with xp i will only get 4gb.

also can i install different programs onto xp and vista

Hi I don't know about the RAM question but i dual boot Vista wih XP, what you have to do is install vista on first then install XP if you do it the other way round XP wont recognise a newer operating sytem.
