Have just recovered from a problem which meant re-installing SP1 and then downloading all the 20+ Security fixes etc. Is there any way to back up these after they have been downloaded & installed. They show as installed in the Add/remove prgram section of Control Panel. I think they are initially stored in a Temp'y location. but then are removed when you re-boot. I don't want to have to download them all again if I have a problem.

if you havent cleared your temporary internet files they will be lurking in there. in future use the win update software to find out which updates are available for your system and note down the numbers then download them from the windows catalog and save the installer.

Just type for example

Q123456 in the search box. Then just download it after clicking on a few download links. Then burn them to a disk.

Only way you could save them after installation is using norton ghost and making a copy of you c:. So if it all goes wrong then you can just reload the image onto your harddrive.

Or if you fancy spending sometime fiddling with some files do this. But it might take you a few attempts to get it right, and a few cd-rs.
