Can anyone tell me how to remove the "Private" attribute to a folder in win xp so that it once more becomes available on the network?

Many thanks.

Just guessing, right clck, what are the options.

Go to tools / folder options/ view, change to 'Show hidden files and folders'(click in the box)

Right click on folder, properties change the attributes.

couple of suggestions, with a man of your caliber you must have tried these already.

All i can offer.

right click the folder and under the SHARING tab uncheck the "make this folder private" box. ( if its your folder)

all these should work. one thing i will say is that if you have more than 1 user account on the computer a user may have selected to make all there folders private when they created their user account. This can be changed in the user accounts area of control panel
