Why is it that when I re-start WIN XP I get all the packages that I had briefly opened during a previous session starting up and I then have to close them all down?

Any solution to this? And I am brand new to xp but have not got time at the mo to read up on all these funnies.

thanks for any help.

Are you by any chance making the computer Hibernate? When you restart from Hibernate, all open programs and documents will all remain visible. You must choose "Turn Off".

If you are wanting to stop programs from loading at start up go to Run and type MSCONFIG then run it. You will be able to stop programs from loading at startup.

No I am not using hibernate. I actually log off and the packages that open on start up are DVD player, I only used it once, norton security that I have turned off and a new one is the dial up for modem that I only clicked on once by mistake!!

All of these should not be in the msconfig but I will check later.

thanks for reply.
