I recentley flashed the firmware on my ASUS CDRW which is working fine, but during the flashing process the DMA setting was disabled. I know Win XP enables the DMA on setup, but I can't find a way to reset it now. Does anyone out there know how it's done.
Many thanks

Right click My Computer, select Hardware then Device Manager.

Look for IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers.

Expand this branch and, assuming your CD drive is on IDE 2, right click Secondary IDE Channel and select properties> Advanced Settings.

The DMA settings for the devices on the chosen IDE channel can be selected.

Right click on your "My Computer", choose properties/hardware tab, then click on "Device Manager".

Scroll down to IDE/ATA/ATAPI controllers. Click on the + sign and expand, Right click on secondary IDE channel, then properties/Advanced settings tab.

Transfer mode. Select from the drop down menu. "DMA if available".

Click "OK" and click your way back out to the desktop. Thats it. j.
