Win XP Full v Win XP upgrade

  ableddyn 14:59 05 Mar 2007

This question relates to XP Home

Am I able to use a Windows XP Full CD to perform as an XP upgrade disk? It will be installed on a Win 98SE PC.
The XP upgrade CD is about £20.00 more than a full copy CD.
I want to keep all my data and programs intact if at all possible.
Many thanks,

If your price comparison is correct I would recommend the Full CD. Should there be an upgrade problem, make a backup of your data, wipe the 98 H.D. and instal XP. Have you checked whether your programs and other kit are suitable for XP?

Could you post the source of your price comparison as a matter of interest.

Good luck

The PC in question belongs to a friend who could have had XP at the time of purchase but opted for Win 98 instead as she was familair with this. Programs & hardware should be OK - it's mainly used for photos & letter writing.
The upgrade Cd is here click here
The full version is here click here
I notice this is an OEM version. Does this matter as it will only be installed on the 1 PC.
