This is for a friend as again I don't run Win XP but I said I would try and the solution to his little prob.I've pasted it ver batum....when I upgraded my windows media player to the XP version it no longer plays DVDs like it used to and expects me to pay extra for what it used to do anyway. I do actually have a player that I can play DVDs etc on so its not completely vital but it would be nice to have the DVD module for windows media player xp (WITHOUT PAYING FOR IT!!!!) When Ive tried downloading likely sounding things from limewire they either dont work or give me virusus I just wondered if anyone had any ideas....
Its a codec you need. Don't have the link you want but there are several - do a search on the forum for media player or dvd and you'll find it.
You probaly need a codec, try a google 'winxp how to play dvd'
PowerDVD is for playing DVD's
woodchip yes thats what I use but he/she says they already have a DVD player and would prefer to use windows media player. The codec will allow them to do that.Personally I prefer Power DVD but everyone to their own.
