Yep, some sort of spyware.

thanks guys. i'll check it out now. if it is spyware then it may explain why i get a load of shortcuts on my desktop for sex and hairloss and viagra and casino's and god knows what else, only happened very recently. turn on the machine and automatically get these links on my desktop. have used ad-aware and spybot, cleaned temp files and all cookies. even my favourites folder is infected, but cleared that aswell. cant get rid of them!!!

Look for the file winlogon according to info on internet. Be careful, Windows has legitimate winlogon files. The rogue one seems to be in Start Menu\...\Programs\Startup

woohoo. thanks guys. that seems to have done the trick. no more at startup. gonna reboot now to see if i still get the win min thingy. 3 years online, and i've never had anything like that. it was worrying and annoying. i did actually feel violated :(. thanks again. hope it stays clean. later. temp. i don't seem to have it in my start menu where you suggested, so im hoping all is well on that front.

hi wig29. can't remember how it sorted now, long time back, but i can only guess i used cwshredder. if you haven't already then i suggest to start your own thread to sort this problem as my knowledge is limited. :)
