Win 98 SE not booting

  aerialman 21:43 30 Apr 2007

My win 98SE system gets so far on starting then packs up, reporting that it is unable to find c:\windows\system\ MSVCRT.DLL and to reinstall windows.

A tame expert tells me that simply reinstalling windows will not help and that I need the MSVCRT.DLL file from a win 98 computer with I.E. 6 installed.
This must then be installed into the windows system folder of my computer from a dos startup. Then, all should be well again.

Can anyone email me this file for installation and allow me to rescue many useful files from my old machine?

Any other ideas to fix my problem?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks woodchip, it didn't work, but thanks to Beeuuem.
The MSCVT.dll download from the site worked fine after unzipping and starting the computer C prompt and copying the dll file into windows system folder.

Thanks also to WAK for the offer of the file.

All seems fixed now.
