win 98 - deleting shortcuts

  Rodney-211388 14:54 15 Jan 2004

I have unwanted shortcuts on my desktop. Attempts to delete result in error message
"Error deleting file
Cannot delete (name). Cannot find the specified path.
Make sure you specify the correct path"

I have chnaged the paths so that they point to My computer i.e not to an application.

But still they won't delete

What to do?

Hi there how are you deleting the short cuts?

Usually to delete a shortcut on your desktop you only need to right click and then left click delete. Did you try this?

or drag and drop in the bin

have tried both of these methods - both result in the same error message

woodchip, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I realised that after I posted. I got a short memory, but it would still be nice to know what the shortcuts are because some cannot be deleted.
