Will I notice a difference with a Gig of Memory?

I currently have half a gig of Corsair XMS PC2700 and I am considering adding another stick to my ASUS A7V333 with an XP2100+ - would there be any point? Would I notice a difference in performance?

Win XP? Apparently 1 Gig is the optimum amount of RAM for XP.

You will only notice it if you do alot of memory intensive tasks. Maybe Video editing, Rendering, 3D graphics work etc. But for normal tasks like word processing, spreadsheets and internet. You'll see no difference what so ever.

I have already got 1g of ddr in xp home.I use my puter for video editting, and upgraded from 512mbs to 1.5g but found the three sticks of ram were incompatible with each other.I then changed my ram to all from the same mfg and XP threw all kinds of wobblies.I removed 1 512mb stick and XP has run smoothly since.Only time I find XP needs loads of RAM is when burning a DVD from an image at 2X,set it off at 4X and the RAM usage dropped?(700mbs used while burning at 2X,but only 50ish mbs at 4X))

Top Performance with 1 GB of RAM or More click here

The problem is that with that board is when you use all the ram slots the speed of the memory gets dropped to 266DDR.

Add another 512 to make 1024 but only using 2 slots, the speed of the ram will stay at 333.

But with your 333 on your 2100 could be a little bottle neck on your 333 memory there. You wouldnt notice a difference only on very demanding apps.

Hope you can undertand that.

But i meant to say 266 on your 2100 processor.
