Will this graphics card work on my pc?

Hello everyone,

I have a Medion computer. Bought from Aldi a few years ago with a Pentium 4, 2Ghz.

Windows XP home edition.

A lot of you will probably know the computer I suppose.

I currently have a Geforce 4 TI4200 installed and want to upgrade to this card...

Micro Star International GeForce FX5900XT 128MB AGP DVI-I VIVO

Can I just plug this new card into the AGP slot on my motherboard like normal?

I think this card needs a seperate power supply. Which is not a problem.

As you can see I have been away from the upgrade market for quite a while!

Thanks.

Sustect your AGP slot is X2. If the new card requires X4 and will not step down to X2 then you may have trouble. You need to check this. Other than that it should be OK. Take a look at the MSI website and see what they say about the card.

My AGP slot is 4X but not 8X.

So is this ok?

Cheers.

like Jeffers22 said if its x4 and not x2 you should be ok...as your AGP is x4 then it should be fine...most cards are backward compatible so if its x8 it should say on the box or some description that it can work for x8 and x4...some cards can even go to x2...but you should be fine.
