will CL2 memory mix with CL3?

  G.T. 22:07 11 Feb 2003

I have checked at crucial memory for the
right module to install for a memory upgrade
but there are 2 types of the ram i want
256mb CL2 OR 256MB CL3. my present ram is
CL2 but it says CL3is faster. can i mix it
or do i get the same CL2. thanks.

I don't think you can mix it and unless you really are looking for that 0.05% speed increase it isn't worth the extra. Stick to CL2 and you will have matched pairs of memory that run at the same speed and don't cause uneven botle necks.

They will work together but not at cas 2 only at cas 3, you might get away with having them both running at cas 2.5 depends on how good the ram is.

clayton is correct. CL2 is faster than CL3.

at CL2, & not at CL3. CL3 is the cheaper for most motherboard and crucial recommend CL3 over CL2 but for your peace of mind a free call to the number I just posted will confirm this for you.

thanks for the help. G.T

Cl2 is the faster memory and as you already have Cl2 it will be better for you to get Cl2 as an upgrade.
Just an example of this
