Will a Blog help the business?

I run a small self employed consultancy click here and it's going great.
I am pondering the benefits of setting up a Blog to hopefully generate more interest and of course enquiries and then more work.
Basically is it worth it? I have set up a sub domain with 1and1 which seems to suit me fine. It will require time and effort to maintain and keep looking fresh, am I better spending the time on other ventures in your opinion?
Also Blogging in relation to my work might be tricky? I don't want a customer logging in to see that I am indirectly referring to their case and sounding less than positive etc.

your thoughts would be very welcome.

Thanks.

Nick

because to be successful your blog must be updated regularly, and it isn't always easy to come up with someing new to say on a specialist subject. It's much easier to just blog away about anything and everything that comes into your head, but of course unless what comes in is interesting to other people you'll simply be publishing a stream of conciousness - and that can be mind-numbingly boring for readers.

I think you should give it a try - in fact I see you are already doing so.

Don't expect too much from your blog - they're a form of vanity publishing, and lots of people who are vain enough to think they have something worth publishing are seriously deluding themselves. The best blogs are superb, but they are few and far between; the vast majority are simply a waste of time.

Yes I think that sums it up nicely!
I feel I might be better off by adding a newsletter option and setting up a 'diary' page on my existing web site which could hold info. about recent cases and my own courses I have attended for example.

Thank you for reading.
