Will adding a memory stick be worth it?

My PC is getting a bit long in the tooth. We use it mainly for Office, E-mail and the Internet.

When I am doing a few things at once such as printing, using excel and the internet it hesitates as tho' it is struggling to cope.

Will adding some RAM help?

I have: -

XP
Pentium 3 722MHZ
2 x 128 MG RAM (133 clock speed or something or other)
10GB Hard drive

If it well help how much should I pay and how do I know what to buy?

I would suggest increasing to a total of 512 MB.

You can find out which type you need if you click here - they are very good in my experience.

Oh and get as much as you can afford but at least another 128 go for 512 if you can.

Do check your mobo manual - the maximum size of module allowed in each slot could well be limited.I encountered this recently when investigating upgrading a similar spec PC for a friend - he's got an 853mghz Intel with 3 slots on his mobo all currently filled with 2x128mb and a 64mb. When checking the mobo manual I found that the maximum allowed in each slot was 128mb so the 64mb would have had to have been removed to replace with a 128mb for a negligible 64mb net upgrade.

I'm currently hunting for my motherboard manual.

leo49 - are you saying that I may need to put in 2 x 128 rather than 1 x 256?

It is an Elitegroup. I have gone thro' all the steps on the Crucial site and it seems to be telling me that I can use 128 or 256MB.
