WiFi Problems After Installing Service Pack 3

Since installing Service Pack 3 for Windows XP I'm getting glitches with my WiFi. Every time I go online (I connect wirelessly), I'm getting a small icon that blinks on and off on the Windows bar at the bottom of the screen every few seconds. It looks a lot like the Bluetooth Local Com icon in Control Panel - a small hat shape with a little ball at the top. Every time the icon appears, I can hear the laptop processing information, and it makes the connectivity 'sputter' - if I'm typing a word, it misses a letter. I'm also getting screen blackouts. When online, the screen suddenly goes dark. I type again and part of the screen reappears. Can anyone help?

Remove SP3 then Run Restore to before the install, Re-Download and install SP3
