Can someone answer the following questions-
1/ What does one require on a laptop to use ths system. 2/ Is there a site that lists the hot spot locations. 3/ Is there a charge to use the system.
Any information on how to use this system I would be greatful for.

You need a WiFi adaptor. Most recent laptops will have one installed when purchased. If yours hasn't you have 3 choices (i) mini-pci to fit inside your laptop if it has a slot (ii) PCMCIA slot adaptor (iii) USB adaptor. All three will work and my preference would be in the order shown.

Hot spots are almost everywhere. Some are free but most are Pay as You Go or Subscription or Private. Look at click here for examples. But other networks and individual hot spots exist.

You turn your WiFi adaptor ON then click on the WiFi network icon which shows whats available. You chose the one you want from the list. You can and do find many domestic hot spots in residential areas. These are private, but many aren't encrypted, don't be tempted to use these as it's stealing and people have finished up in court for logging onto someones home network.
