Widescreen or ordinary TFT?

i am in the process of upgrading my 17" CRT monitor to a flat screen TFT. I am interested in the HannsG HW223DP, but would like some advice as to whether to choose this or an ordinary flat TFT screen. At present I do not watch many DVD videos on the puter.

Make sure that your display card can handle the Max Resolution of 1680 x 1050 required for a 22" wide screen.

If not display will look fat and stretch if you do not use the correct resolution.

I like a wide screen using a 19" and the display is just perfect, than the square screen

If you right click on the Desktop>Properties>Settings>Advanced button>Adapter tab>click on List All Modes, all the colour/resolution/refresh rates your graphics card supports will be listed.

Incidentally, by highlighting and clicking on a selected combination you can Enable it; it's best to choose that Windows doesn't require rebooting after any changes.

Thanks for the help.
Seems like 1600 x 1024 or 1600 x 1200 are the highest.
However, as the eyes are not as good as they used to be, presumable | can set up the resolution to something slightly less and achieve albeit not quite the optimum results, but something that will usable and an improvement on the 17" CRT.

Forgot to mention my video card is a GeForce 7600GS.

A widescreen TFT will use WGA resolutions.

Your graphics card should/will be able to much higher resolutions than that - even my modest Radeon 9550 will go up to 3200x1200 according to List All Modes...:-)

The DVI Output socket on the Geforce 7600GT will give you Digital Resolution at 32-bit colour: 2560x1600 @ 60Hz

Make sure you do not turn on the HDTV setting during set up as it can cause display to over scan
