I will need to use use a laptop with a Bosch automotive diagnostic system that requires a serial port as well as a USB port,
My question is this....
I have heard that I can buy a piece of equipment that will plug into the USB port that will give me a serial and parallel port.
Would this piece of equipment replicate faithfully a serial port for my Bosch Equipment.
Thanks in advance.

Only Bosch can give a definitive answer on this.

Serial ports and parallel ports are considered "old technology" nowadays, being supassed by smaller (certainly physically smaller) and faster USB (1 & 2) and firewire connections.

You can get adaptors - look at Maplin click here product #ZP43W and A86AN

Sorry, missed some. the ones above are serial adaptors.

Parallel port adaptors are ref # A85AN and UC02C
