Why is my laptop password protected over network?

Hi. I have my laptop and pc on a home network. The laptop can see and share the pc's files. But whenever i go to network places -> view workgroup computers.... and then try to connect to my laptop, it asks for a password! The username that the computer forces me to use is "MYLAPTOP\Guest".

The weird thing is that i dont even have a password to log onto windows and have NEVER set up a password for my home network...

Can someone help me out?

In Windows XP, "File & Printer Sharing" is disabled by default. The prompt for a (non-existent) Password can arise if you haven't actually set any folders as "Shared" in the remote PC. Sharing a folder for the first time enables "File & Printer Sharing" and you should then be able to access.
