Why has the CPU increased to 50%?

The CPU on my notebook shows around 50%+ even when no specific programmes are running.

I've scanned the computer with Spybot, Ad-Aware and Avast but nothing was found.

My CPU always used to run at about 2% or 3% when no programmes were running so any ideas as to why the speed has increased would be gratefully accepted.

System Idle process should be showing about 97% if nothing is running, What program is using the 50% .

Sorry just re-read your problem.CPU is using 50% when nothing is running,Under processes there is nothing running at all.Never seen that before so will have to leave it for someone else to give you the help that you require.

Many thanks for your reply.

I have discovered that Spyware Terminator is using about 50% of the CPU but I am unable to gain access to delete the programme.

I was wondering therefore if anyone else has had similar problems with this software?

Cheers.

I would imagine you have to disable it first..

if that does not work try the uninstaller from "tools" from prog in link

You need to stop the program first before you can uninstall

Try stopping the Spyware Terminator program first using the windows task manager processes (End process)

If that don't work go into safe mode and uninstall

Remove it in Safe Mode from Add Remove Programs

  Daibus 16:44 02 Sep 2007

Have tried to remove it via CCleaner with no joy as I could not gain access even though the programme is not running at Start Up.

Then I rebooted in Safe Mode but again access was blocked to this programme.

Should I reinstall again over the current version?

Many thanks.

Managed to unload Spyware Terminator by reinstalling the programme again.

Do you have a Restore Point to befor you put the program on your computer?????

The programme was installed about a year ago but I only thought it was taking a lot of the CPU after a recent update.
