why get faster wireless router than g?

What is the point of getting a high speed wireless router when the internet is never going to download as fast?

i.e. if I have 2mb or even 8mb broadband, then what advantage would there be in surfing or online gaming speed if i got a g+ or n router instead of the standard g given that g gives 54mbps?

For a single PC home user , then there is no real benefit at all , unless you have downloaded HD films from the net and wish to stream them wirelessly to a multimedia system connected to your HD TV . Having said that , it never hurts to have that extra capacity , cars are only allowed to do 70mph in this country , but you wouldn't even look at one that could only do that as a top speed .

The advent of home use for wireless networking is relatively recent and devices such as wireless routers were , and still are , really developed for business use where the transfer of large files between various PC's in different offices is made faster and smoother .
