why cant it see it?

Hello to you all. 1st post so be gentle ;)

I'm having some trouble with my wireless network.
However it was working before so I'm not sure what I've done.

I have a Belkin 54g wireless Router connected to my PC and a laptop with a wireless network card.

The problem being it no longer recognises the router. It searches and finds no network in range.

As I said, it was working before so I'm assuming i've messed with something I shouldn't have.

Thanks for any help.

the router is within range - the laptop isn't in a 'dead' spot?

The laptop's network card - is it a PCMCIA slot type, and if so, which one?

I take it the router and PC are connected physically, via an ethernet cable, and that there's no problem with the internet connection on that machine?

the laptop is only a few yards away from the Router. The network card is an Intel Pro/Wireless 2200BG - not sure if that's a slot type.

Your last point is correct.

It was working only a couple of hours ago.

Have you touched any of the network settings?

What were you doing immediately prior to the problem? Is there likely to be a clue there?

ripping my CDs onto the laptop when it froze..
I right clicked on the wireless symbol on my desktop and disconnected it, thinking it may have been the internet slowing it up. I think from then it's all went wrong.

Could that have anything to do with it?

I don't think I tampered with any settings. Arrggg it's driving me mad!.

Is it worth resetting the Router, even though the main PC is working ok?

Turn the whole lot OFF and reboot everything. You may find the router will then recognise each computer. Give it at least 10 minutes to do so.

I'll give that a try.

still no joy...any other ideas folks?

If you click on your wireless symbol again, what is it saying? Connected or Disconnected?
