I've just recently added a scanner to my p.c.After installing all the software included with the scanner,i found a problem with it.all i thought i needed to do was to remove the software via add/remove programs, then simply re-install it again from scratch. But for some reason it will not let me remove any of it.Everytime i try to remove it,the following message appears."An istallation support file could not be installed, the system cannot find the file specified.I've tried using the system restore function, but for another strange reason,i don't have any restore points available. What can i do to correct this? Please help.

sounds as if XP has become corrupted

go to start>run and type sfc /scannow

pop the xp disc in and se if this helps

If come up with error when type sfc/scannow in start/run, try opening command prompt and typing it in there
