Why 2 Display Adapters listed on acer 7535g

  eddie12345678 21:46 06 Oct 2009

Hi just bought new acer and it was listed as having a 512 dedicated graphics card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD4570

In the Device manager it lists the above card but also the ATI Radeon HD3200 Graphics.

Trying to figure out why and what for, cheers for any help

The 4570 is a Graphics Adapter, the 3200 is an on-board graphics chip, so it would look as if you had two Adapters, though you only have one.

I hope that makes sense!

Cheers technotiger, would you say both need to be active or can it be safely disabled

Leave them as they are, don't disable anything - they are intended to be that way.

Or, in other words - If it aint broke, don't fix it!

I have an ATi 9550 graphics card which is listed twice in Device Manager (one as Secondary), which I have always assumed is because it is dual monitor capable.

But, as I always say, 'If it aint broke ...' you know the rest !!

Thanks for the link - the statement: "Also included are dual monitor support and DVI + VGA + VO support" probably covers my reasoning (in Display Properties two "monitors" are shown as being available rather than just one).

Incidentally my card is the Sapphire 256MB DDR memory version.

The card isn't actually produced by ATi, but the graphics chipset incorporated by Sapphire (or other graphics card manufacturers).

Cheers folks, will leave it in place and carry on comping
