well own up!! who htes win XP?

just to get u lot started i'll give a few examples

to start win XP needs a "minimum" of a 300mhz cpu and 64Mb RAM you know this translates to a "real" minimum of about a 700-800mhz P3 and at least 128MB DDR or 256MB PC133 - and thats just for the OS! let alone seperate apps a lot of apps need TRIPLE the RAM needed for XP as they would for say 98SE take for example an app needing 32mb RAM in any OS...or almost...XP would demand a stupidly high 128MB!!!!

so just think to get a pc that runs smoothly with both games and normal work you would need a pc spec of about a 2Ghz+ Athlon XP with around 512MB DDR(333mhz preferably) but if you couldnt get that it would have to be a monstrous 1GB(maybe a little less) RAM and of course...win XP DEMANDS a mega fast HDD of say 7200rpm 8.2ms access time and a 2mb buffer(or more)

well i think thats a good start...let the ranting and raving begin from both sides!!

I love it!

I don't love, don't hate it, I JUST USE IT!

I can't find it in me to raise such passion over just an Operating System. It does it's job fine, and allows me to run the applictions I need, with a minimum of fuss and hassle. After all an OS doesn't actually DO anything!

And so it needs up to date hardware - well hardware's never been cheaper -so what?

Technology has moved on, you would expect to need a reasonable spec machine to run the latest software.

There is nothing to hate with XP. It does exactly what is needed.

Mine ran for ages on a 450Mhz Pentium 3 with 192MB of RAM.

It ran fine even when running demanding apps.

Good job I didn't tell it about the 2GHz+ of 512MB DDR or it might have stopped working.

Buy a new PC and you'll get that lot minimum.

I'm still on 98, but have used XP, it has it's annoying niggles such as wanting to remove unused shortcuts, but I'm sure tey can be turned off somehow. Basically it does what it needs to do.

do u lot ever stop an think jus 4 1 second...hang on...win xp is using LOTS more precius rsources that is actually needed to be used? i mean every1 could use 98SE still run all their normal programs and have much better driver releases etc. and only use a fraction of the resources thus meaning faster productivity better, faster gaming etc. i think ive made my point ;o)
