what im after is short sign up.

Because ISP's pay fees to BT for set-up, they impose minimum contract periods. Pipex (click here)offers at least one service, Solo 500 Lite, which has only a 30 day minimum, BUT a £58 cancellation charge is payable for termination in less than 12 months (presumably to cover the set-up costs). This may be cheaper than having to pay for a full 12 months service with another ISP. I can recommend Pipex as providing a reliable service, based on the last 12 months usage.

Metronet offer a PAYG broadband service, no minimum contract but they do not offer free modem, free connection etc...

I am also told that Virgin offer BB without a 12 month contract: click here
